A multi-agency security operation in Tana River County has resulted in the arrest of 17 suspects believed to be members of a criminal gang known as the Kayole Gang.
The operation, conducted in Madogo and Mororo towns, targeted the gang, which has been accused of terrorising residents in the area.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the operation also uncovered a suspected drug-peddling den, leading to the recovery of suspected narcotic substances and several crude weapons.
The 17 suspects are currently in police custody awaiting arraignment in court, while the recovered drugs and weapons have been secured as exhibits.
The National Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying intelligence-led security operations across the country to combat criminal activities and enhance public safety.
The service also commended the multi-agency security teams and members of the public for their cooperation in the operation.
